Or a public library. Over the course of a few months an individual could print their own gun with relative ease. What is scary is that most people would not recognize the components as gun parts even if they were watching their printers.
I really do not want to see 3D printers regulated out of existence, but this is a very real concern. Libraries are not prepared to deal with the privacy issues this entails. Do we collect info on everyone using our printers? Cross reference that list with other libraries offering the same services? Because a smart individual would use different libraries to print out the entire gun in order to be less obvious. What if someone only prints out a knife? Do we even know the laws governing knives in our states? What length of a blade is illegal? Do we confiscate illegal knives once they are printed? Alert the police? It gets messy fast.
